Russian Anastassia Rodionova and Andreea Ehritt-Vanc of Romania captured their maiden career title as a team at the Estoril Open on Saturday.
Fourth-seeded Rodionova and Ehritt-Vanc, playing their 18th Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event together, defeated Spanish duo Lourdes Dominguez Lino and Arantxa Parra-Santonja 6-3, 6-2 in 58 minutes.
Rodionova and Ehritt-Vanc converted five of seven break point opportunities and won 58 of 92 points in total.
“It’s been good winning the final, we both played well together and worked hard the last year – and finally it has paid off,” said the 24-year-old Rodionova, who wins her second career doubles title, having partnered compatriot Elena Vesnina to the 2005 Quebec City crown.
While 33-year-old Ehritt-Vanc also garners her second trophy, following a win at Strasbourg in 2005 with Rosa Maria Andres Rodriguez.
The pair made their team debut at Berlin in May 2006. Prior to this week, their best performance had been quarterfinal exits at New Haven in August 2006 and Dubai in February this year.
Ehritt-Vanc is currently No. 60 in the Sony Ericsson WTA Doubles Rankings, while Rodionova is No. 73.
