Dulko Sets Up Clash With Fellow Argentine

Second-seeded Argentine Gisela Dulko won her first career meeting over Yi Zan of China to advance to the second round of the Estoril Open on Tuesday.

Dulko hit two aces and won 73% of points on first serve in the 6-4, 6-4 victory in one-hour 18 minutes.

The 21-year-old will next meet countrywoman Paolo Suarez, a wild card winner over Maria Sanchez Lorenzo.

Third-seeded Lourdes Lino Dominguez, ranked No. 43 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, defeated Portuguese wild card Magali de Lattre 6-1, 6-2 in the 58-minute win. Lino Dominguez won 60 of 92 points.

She will next meet Estonian Kaia Kanepi, a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Stephanie Foretz of France.

Chinese players had reason to celebrate with victories for No. 6 seed Jie Zheng and No. 7 seed Na Li. Zheng ousted Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 6-4 and Li beat Kristina Barrois 6-4, 6-3.

France’s Emilie Loit, No. 7 seed, advanced to a second round meeting with Natalia Gussoni, following a 6-1, 6-2 win over Frederica Piedade. Gussoni overcame Eva Birenova 6-3, 6-3.
