Former champion Emilie Loit won her 11th match of the season advancing to the Estoril Open quarterfinals on Thursday.
France’s No. 7 seed, winner over Iveta Benesova at the 2004 championship, rushed through her match against Natalia Gussoni 6-2, 6-2.
Loit, currently ranked No. 50 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, hit five aces and won 21 of 30 points on first serve in the 70-minute victory.
Loit will contest her fourth quarterfinal of the season against No. 3 seed Lourdes Dominguez Lino, following the Spaniards equally quick 67-minute 6-1, 6-4 win over Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
This season Loit has reached one semifinal in Acapulco and made last eight performances in Paris and Bogota.
Meanwhile, Chinese No. 8 seed Na Li knocked out Czech qualifier Katerina Bohmova 6-1, 6-0. Li will now meet second-seeded Gisela Dulko of Argentina on Friday.
Sixth-seeded Jie Zheng of China outslugged Spain's Laura Pous Tio 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in one hour and 48 minutes. Zheng will now play Zuzana Ondraskova.
